Berlin, late February/ early March 1930. The police is called after an actress has died in what appears to be a tragic accident. Then another actress goes missing.

I loved how this book gave insight into the transition from silent movies to talkies, and how as with everything else not everyone likes the new technology and possibilities.

I continued The Emperor of Rome and I‘ve just started Brotherless Night

I know l said l enjoyed Kutscher's latter only so-so, but l just couldn't resist this cover. And l'm curious to read the Italian translation rather than the English one (l wish my German would allow me the original 😭).

And l don't need any good reason to get another Tolkien book 😆

Yes, sometimes I‘m seduced by cover designs, for vinyl albums and books alike; one way to discover what you would never find otherwise. Had high hopes for this one as it followed Babylon Berlin which was made into a acclaimed series. Louche detective kicked out of Berlin and into Cologne works as a PI and treats his police duties as a side job. Der zweite Band hat mir wesentlich besser gefallen, als der erste. Ein spannender Fall der nicht ganz offensichtlich ist, im Privatleben des Kommissars wird es auch nicht ruhiger und ich bin gespannt, wie es weitergehen wird
Manchmal störten mich die eigensinnigkeiten des Herrn Rath, aber das macht ihn dann doch aus 💁

Schnell war Farm der Tiere ausgelesen, gut das ich noch ein weiteres Buch in meinem Koffer hatte 😜
Und da ich gerade in Berlin bin, geht es mit #volkerkutscher weiter
Es sieht etwas mitgenommen aus, denn es war ein Fund im Bücherschrank 🤗
Krimis kaufe ich generell gerne gebraucht, denn wenn man Mal ehrlich ist:
Mehr als einmal liest man sie sowieso nicht, von daher spielt die Optik da keine große Rolle für mich 💁

Gideon Rath's second case is set in Berlin's movie scene in 1930.

I think this is an abridged version and I thought it had a nice pace and I didn't feel like I was missing something. The case of not super difficult, but still enjoyable.

And the power is back! Wootwoot!
